pilgrim Application Deadline

Waiting until the last minute to sponsor a pilgrim on a Walk to Emmaus is leading to numerous challenges for Living Water Emmaus Community (LWE) and for the facilities that host us. Many things must be done in advance of a walk such as:

  • confirming with the host facility there are enough pilgrims to have a walk

  • ordering food

  • gathering supplies for the walk

  • team members confirming time off to work a walk.

  • community members making bed and table agape

Therefore, the LWE Board will institute an application deadline, 20 days prior to a walk. Please plan to have all pilgrim applications submitted to the registrar no later than 20 days before a walk. This will ensure that a walk will take place and that the event will go smoothly.

20 completed applications must be submitted to the registrar by the application deadline “20 days prior to a walk”. If 20 applications are not submitted there will be no walk and the walk will be canceled. For any Pilgrim applications submitted later than the deadline it may be necessary to put them on a roll over list for the next scheduled walk. Exceptions to this rule will be granted on a case by case basis and only with approval of the LWE Board. This will allow genuine extenuating circumstances and not simply because the sponsor failed to get the application in on time.
